What Does British 'Big Cat' Video Evidence Show?
Let's look at one popular You Tube video with 22K views and definitely not all 2022 sightings despite the title of Big Cats Sighting 2022 UK
First animal seen is a dog. Body shape, legs etc
Second is a black blob in a filed that could be anything.
Third is a black domestic or feral cat
Fourth is an extremely well known fake -it's a cut out with the 'tail' supporting it!
Ruthin, North Wales: 'Black panther' caught on woodland trail camera has 26k views...
Well, I have looked at this repeatedly on a large monitor and it might be a cat...or a dog. It is certainly not a "black panther bvased on the body shape and length. I assume that as the camera was triggered there is more to this but it was "edited".
Big Cat sightings UK more. has 10K views...
1. Domestic cat. Could be feral but no idea.
2. Domestic cat -tabby1. Same cat shown in other videos but lesser quality. Domestic.
Teenage campers film huge 'PANTHER' feeding on 'dead sheep' in Peak District
Seriously. Are people this stupid? Yes. Where is the panther? Where is the panther eating a sheep? Am I also supposed to see whether I can spot Wally/Waldo? Look at those absolutely terrified sheep casually chilling out while...a dog supporting itself with its front leg (it. is. a. leg. not. a. tail) and licking its haunches and this tiny edited clip is obvious a hoax.
Right. I sat there and waited. I waited... firstly there are a lot of people looking at track photos and trying to fake 'big cat' tracks. It's usually of a one pawed cat 😏 the track shown is a mess. As for the 'big cat' its just the same images of domestic cats.
Big Cat Sightings UK 2021 is a You Tube Short
It's a domestic cat
And New Forest Big Cat Sighting...?
It's a black Labrador or Retriever dog
Big Cat sightings UK 2023 has just over 1k views
1. Same domestic/feral cat we see in every other video so obviously not 2023
1. The drone footage was originally impressive but things did not make sense:
1. All the videographer notes on the section of the drone footage is "WTF?" but despite spotting the cat does not attempt to film it. He flies the drone away.
2. Publicity for business etc and also earning money from selling the clip to TV news groups -nothing.
3. Sighting not reported.
4. Taking a look at the cat and objects in the clip it is quite obvious that this is a domestic or maybe even known about feral. The clip is not pushed as a big cat video and I think the videographer was having fun. Made me sit up when I first saw it though.
Clip 2 is of a domestic/feral cat
Clip 3 is of a domestic cat.
That is 10 videos allegedly showing British 'big cats' and some spout the usual ill educated rubbish spouted by 'big cat experts' who really have no knowledge of domestic cats let alone the new native cats in the UK.
I ought to point out that we know about domestic cats. It shocks me that even in 2023 there are cat owners who panic if their cat is not home by a certain time ("it's always home by 10pm!"). They panic on finding their cat has climbed up onto a tree branch ("Something must have chased and terrified him into taking refuge on a tree branch"). People sending photos and concerned messages all over social media because they have seen a cat walking along a field line, through their garden or even sat on a wall ("Obviously lost or needs help as it was walking in the field" fields with mice?).
'big cat' experts ought to know that there is only one member of the Big Cat family in the UK and that is the leopard. Puma and anything else are Medium or Small cat family members.; These experts ought to really read a book (I have one ought -The Red Paper 2022 Vol. II Felids) which looks at the subject, the history.
Whoever says it all started with the 1976 Dangerous Wild Animals Act has carried out no research and is an idiot.
Whoever says that there are "thousands" or "1000 plus" or even "A few hundred" 'big cats' in the UK is an idiot. That very statement shows lack of knowledge on the subject 0of the cats, the geography of the UK and the .size of the island.
"They live off deer -their main prey item" i9s another standard dogma quote from people with no knowledge of the animals they are talking about. Again, read my book and get an education.
I started the Exotic Animals Register and became a UK police forces exotic animals consultant (1977- ) a few years after I got interested in the subject. My interest was in proving it was all bunk or the odd escapee but by 1978 I realised there was more to it. Over 40 years later I am still studying exotic fauna in the UK and you can imagine that in those years I have accumulated a lot of knowledge and data.
I have absolutely no doubt that these various cats are out there and that they have successfully bred. What I want to see are photographs and video clips that add to the evidence (and I know people who have driven past roadkill large cats (not feral domestics either).
I have watched so many of these 'evidence' videos and they are the same as the UFO or even paranormal videos; the same clips over and over showing nothing. If someone sat down and watched the 10 videos above then they would be disappointed and if it was a naturalist....well,
Keep a dashboard cam on while driving along roads and if you see a very large cat and it is safe to pull in then do so and photo the heck out of it (with something nearby for size scale) and then get in touch.
If you go for country or hill walks wear a Go Pro "in case" and I know one person has a Go Pro facing front and one facing to the rear "in case". A good video clip is better than twenty "blobs in a field" videos.
They are out there. We need more nevidence to show people.
