See my note after the main story.

A ‘big cat’ was sighted in a Hampshire village over the weekend.

Charlotte Jackson Coleman was walking her dog in Easton when she spotted the large feline on Sunday.

The 45-year-old Sky Sports presenter turned actress, who lives in the village just outside of Winchester, said she saw it from a distance.

Charlotte, who starred in Silent Witness, said: “It was quite large.

“The pattern and colour of the coat was not like one I had seen on a cat before.

“As we got closer, I realised how much bigger it was than other cats - and it had no collar.

“I put my dog on the lead straight away. He is a Yorkie-poo and much smaller than the cat.

“It didn’t seem frightened of us, and I got my phone out to take a video as I thought it was really unusual.

“But I think I was a bit slow in doing so as it ran into the bush and then off.”

Charlotte managed to capture a short video of the grey cat.

It is seen lurking behind a tree off a path, peering at Charlotte and her dog.

It stares at them before running away as she approaches.

Reported sightings of big cats in Hampshire have been rife for several years.

Speculation surrounds them, with some believing they are simply urban myths, while others back their existence.

Many people in the county claim they have seen big cats on the prowl over the years but the existence of big cats is often disputed.

Well there you go. A 'big cat' unlike any seen before. You noticed how they wrote 'big cat' with single quote marks (used to denote something not true) because they knew this was not any type of big cat and that they were, at best stupid and at worst just lying. Do a Google image search yourself and you will find that the 'big cat' is in fact an exotic pet cat breed -a Bengal.

Someone might even suggest a Savannah (below) cat but I think the Bengal is correct even if the photo is not great the markings look right.

These pets have either gotten out or are simply wandering and if they are just allowed out then the owners are idiots because all of the hysterical "big cat" talk has already gotten 'sport shooters' excited and that means a pet cat will end up dead. Shot by a moron who can claim -even if only privately to his fellow 'sportsmen' that he got a big cat. These people shoot pet cats and even escaped pet foxes (because they joke that the animal in question had a collar on -they use night sights on their weapons-  and "it's name was 'Basil Brush'") so shooting someone's very expensive cat is nothing.

The whole article is basically a promo piece for an actress I have never heard of and really do not care about as well as to push another 'big cat' scare story out there. Could the reporter or editor not do a Google search or were they too busy scratching their asses?

Whatever: not a 'big cat' and the news team knew that.
